Apache tweaks, eAccelerator upgrade, vsftpd+ on Assmule

A two second sleep has been inserted between an Apache restart command to allow the Web server time to close off any remaining connections before starting back up.  This should alleviate some of the false positives that have been appearing in the server monitoring processes (both internal and external).  eAccelerator was also upgraded to 0.9.5.3 this morning.  0.9.5.3 introduced a bugfix for a bug that resulted in Apache executing the same code across all children.

vsftpd+ is also running on Assmule at this time.  Whether or not we will run into the same unreproducible problems with customers unable to login is questionable.  Just send me an e-mail to msaladna@apisnetworks.com if you are unable to login.  A packet dump would also be useful.

vsftpd+ debugging assistance

There is still one remaining issue with vsftpd+ that is keeping it from production — an unreproducible error with authenticating.  Some users are unable to authenticate to vsftpd+, which would require a packet dump to understand what is being sent back and forth between the FTP client and server.

If you have access to Ethereal and cannot login to the FTP server running on port 42, then please e-mail me a packet dump at msaladna@apisnetworks.com for inspection.  vsftpd+ fixes IE/Firefox login prompts, which is something I would like to move forward with implementing.  Users unable to login?  Well, that’s a deal breaker.

DNS Clean-up

All old domains no longer attached to a hosting account on the server have been purged from the nameservers at this time.  This shouldn’t impact any current customers as long as the domain is attached to your account through Multiple Domain Manager AND you are using ns1/2.apisnetworks.com for DNS hosting.
